Overview
Medan is 1.5 hours from Changi. That's close enough for a proper adventure over a long weekend — no half-days wasted, no Monday leave required. This trip is built specifically for Singapore-based travellers who want to see wild orangutans without committing to a week off.
Friday evening is all Medan — airport pickup, hotel check-in, then straight into the Chinese quarter for the kind of dinner you'll be talking about at work on Monday. Saturday is the centrepiece: an early start for the 3-hour drive to Bukit Lawang, a half-day jungle trek through Gunung Leuser National Park with a licensed ITGA guide, then back to Medan by evening. Sunday is a gentle close — morning market, a proper kopi, and a transfer to the airport.
It's a tight itinerary by design. Saturday is a long day — early start, full-on jungle, late return. If you want to take it slower, consider upgrading to the Jungle Explorer (5N/6D) instead.
